My suspicion is that the current world financial crisis should make it an excellent time for international travel?

Clearly, airfares are very good at the moment. The low cost airlines are almost giving their flights away, certainly from Australia anyhow.

However, i am not so sure if Asian accommodation is going cheap? I am sure occupancy rates would have to down, or otherwise the airlines would not be giving their flights away so cheap. But, from researching prices of the hotels in Phuket, either through my favourite Internet service - Hotels combined (http://www.hotelscombined.com/?a_aid=857b27b4) or from looking up some of the hotel websites, it doesn’t look like anything is going too cheap.

It is high season until April, and I am going in March, and Phuket hotels have a reputation for having huge price differences between high and low seasons, but surely they must be dropping prices if hotels aren’t that full?

I am just going to have to assume they will be cheaper to walk-up! hope I am right.

 Anyone in Phuket at the moment, or who lives there, could shed some light on the current situation, I would be much obliged
