Speedboat transfer from Ko Lanta to Ko Ngai

There is always a variety of different quality of transport vessels to ferry between the islands of the Andaman Sea. As a rule, I catch a standard ferry, as it is really part of the adventure, and doesn’t really feel right paying big bucks to save a small amount of time, to get fast ferries, speedboats etc.

Indojet refunds

October 17th, 2009

Finally, 4 months after cancelling all their services due to loss of their leased plane, Indojet have publicly answered some questions on refunds for flights that have not happened.

They are offering a couple of options on what consumers can have with regards to credits or refunds, although they are still not necessarily a very satisfactory outcome! Below is an excerpt, directly from their website, explaining their offer -

Please note that you have 2 options as follows:
shim Indojet refunds
1. If your flight was for the period of May through to October 2009, then you will either receive a voucher for another flight which will be arranged after 12th of December 2009. Alternatively, you may elect to obtain a refund of your travel fares, however we note that the refunds will only be made after the 12th of December 2009.

2. If your flights are booked for travel from November 2009 onwards, you will not receive any refunds but will be provided with vouchers so you can re arrange your travel plans.

Most disappointing on the above, is the fact nothing will happen for another 2 months, until mid December, for who know what reason. also disappointing, is their is still absolutely no way of contacting them that is acknowledged.

I hope they finally restitute the mess they have made, and put customers right!

Ubud, Bali is one of those wonderful, peaceful places, away from the madding crowd, that can be a magnificent escape for a weeks true relaxing. It is away from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s Southern beaches, it is comparatively cool, and it green and lush year round

In addition, there a any number of mid and high end getaways hidden in Ubud and the villages surrounding.

How do you find that hidden bargain?? look no more, I have stumbled across a search product that searches all major booking engines, and compares prices for you! Have a look at HotelsCombined . you wont be disappointed! The best hotels, and the best discounts. Honestly!!

That site again - Hotelscombined. Check out the four seasons and Kapu Kapu Barong as a couple of recommendations from me!

Airbus 330-200 seats 59F & 59E…are they good or bad seats?

I recently took a domestic Qantas flight on an Airbus 330-200, ans was horrified when allocated seats 59F and 59E. To me this sounded like it was going to be well down the back, and that always ends up the noisy, squeezy end!

However, I found these seats to be different (i think). I’m still a little in a half mind, but I think(?) they were actually really good! These two seats are at the extreme back of the centre row. The advantage is that the space narrows, so there is only two seats, not 3, and there are now outside rows. Window seats etc stop at 58!

Bali like it used to be?

October 12th, 2009

I have been visiting Bali since the early 1980’s, and like everyone else, I am often flabbergasted as to how much it has changed in that time. Not that I am saying I dont like Bali anymore, because I do, but there is no doubt that it has changed significantly also! And, as I have a reputation as a traveller who like to visit places a little “off the beaten track”, often people assume I hate Bali, or long for the good old days!

Paying Less for Hotels in Kuala Lumpur

October 4th, 2009

Click Here to consider Asian Itineraries’ 3 levels of travel packages

Having recently returned from Kuala Lumpur, I have found getting the best hotel deal can be a bit of a difficult scenario. From various trips, including this one, walk in rates in the mid to high range of offering is definitely not the way to get a good deal. Also, I have tried some of the major hotel chains websites, but again, you pay top dollar, and that is just not how I roll!

Best possible price for Raffles Hotel, Singapore

October 3rd, 2009

The Raffles Hotel in Singapore is a Singapore institution, and a magnificent facility, and one that is always very popular. Unfortunately, as a result, it is usually not discounted much at all. Travel agents in your home country will change you top dollar every time, and forget about a last minute, walk in rate, that will be close to $1000 per night.

Finding cheap hotels in Singapore

October 1st, 2009

I have found the best way to get a good hotel deal in Singapore, is to thoroughly check around on prices. Walk in rates are too expensive, and most travel agents are good at putting a whole travel package together, but to get a good price on hotels only, you can beat web prices! But what site?

Well, I have found the best results to find cheap hotels, or good hotels at the cheapest possible prices, is at HotelsCombined
